Kiss The Cook Cover Reveal!
Plus a whole bunch of other updates that don't fit into a snappy summary line
A summary for you on what to expect in this edition in case you want to scroll down to the interesting bits: Don’t Move Your Desk schedule reminder; new series release dates; cover reveal; and the progress report with an update on my week-on-week sales and writing progress.
Hey, friends! Today, I wanted to start by reminding you about where we are in the previously-announced schedule for Don’t Move Your Desk:
17th February - I’ll reveal the title and cover16th March - I’ll share profiles for our AU-verse characters (who will largely be the same as our original characters, though they may be changed in certain ways)6th April - chapter one of the AU novel goes live!
13th April to 28th September - weekly chapters of the AU novel, roughly
5th October - AU novel digital wrap party
(By the way - I should really keep explaining this because I know I’m getting new subscribers who probably haven’t seen earlier posts: AU means alternate universe, so taking the same characters but plonking them down in a brand new setting and seeing what happens).
We are, obviously, getting closer and closer to that release date. NEXT WEEK I have a big announcement pre-the start of the serialisation. It’s a good one. Make sure that you subscribe now to get all the chapters for free in your inbox. Once they go behind the paywall, you won’t be able to get them back unless you upgrade to a paid membership, so this is your one chance to read the whole book for free.
Next up, I wanted to confirm the release dates for the next series! We haven’t talked much about Crowhill Kitchen yet except for a few teasers, as we’re focusing more on the serialisation right now. I still want to give you a few things to look forward to, so here’s the official release schedule for Crowhill Kitchen:
1 - Kiss The Cook - 1st December 2024 (ebook); 1st January 2025 (paperback)
2 - Cook Up A Storm - 1st February 2025 (ebook); 1st March 2025 (paperback)
3 - What’s Cooking Good Looking? - 1st April 2025 (ebook); 1st May 2025 (paperback)
4 - Too Many Cooks - 1st June 2025 (ebook); 1st July 2025 (paperback)
5 - Cooking On Gas - 1st August 2025 (ebook); 1st September 2025 (paperback)
There is one warning just to reiterate here, which is that if I do get enough momentum up to be able to produce audiobooks, I’ll be inserting them into the schedule (i.e. the audiobook for book 1 would be February 2025 and Cook Up A Storm ebook would wait until March 2025). However, it may be more likely anyway that I would have to wait a longer time to release audiobooks, because even once I get up enough funds to do that (it costs a LOT), they still need to actually be produced.
It feels like those dates are a long way away, but in reality, this is going to be a mad dash. We have weekly(ish) chapters of DMYD right the way through to October, the release of DMYD in paperback and ebook for non-subscribers, and then we’ll be straight into this release schedule with only one month’s break. It’s going to be a lot, and I hope you don’t get sick of me before the end of 2025! Plus, by the time Cooking on Gas is done coming out, we’ll have done a bunch more short fiction and I might be on my way into another serialisation, depending on how this one goes.
Okay, here’s the reveal you no doubt scrolled all the way down past the other stuff for!
(if you actually read the other updates above, thanks haha)
This is it - the cover reveal for the first book in the new series: Kiss The Cook!
That’s going to have to tide you over until October or November when I start teasing more stuff, so enjoy. Keep this man in your hearts. You’ll be seeing a lot more of him…
It doesn’t feel like I’ve had a lot to say this week - even though I’ve announced a few things, there’s not much else to add about them. So, over to you a bit. Are there any topics you’d like to see me cover? Do you have any burning questions for me on any topic at all? Let me know!
Progress Report
Don’t Move Out sales total: ebook - 724, paperback - 5, KU pages read - 272,417 (DMO = 238 pages, so the equivalent of 1,144 full-book reads) - Bargain Booksy feature did basically nothing! I’ll continue to test new services to find one that works, but so far, the only one that made any difference is BookBub.
Don’t Go Outside sales total: ebook - 75, paperback - 5, KU pages read - 97,958 (DGO = 222 pages, so the equivalent of 433 full-book reads)
Don’t Fly Home sales total: ebook - 43, paperback - 3, KU pages read - 59,487 (DFH = 224 pages, so the equivalent of 265 full-book reads)
Don’t Leave Town sales total: ebook - 52, paperback - 3, KU pages read - 41,040 (DLT = 299 pages, so the equivalent of 137 full-book reads)
Don’t Check Out sales total: ebook - 42, paperback - 1, KU pages read - 20,808 (DCO = 192 pages, so the equivalent of 108 full-book reads)
CC 1-5 Boxset sales total: KU pages read - 9,662 (Boxset = 1,068 pages, so the equivalent of 9 full-set reads)
Don’t Move Your Desk - theme chosen (sexy CEO/secretary!), title chosen, cover designed, full plot done, 46k words into writing - a poor writing week. I had some other things to take care of, such as a new upcoming issue of the magazine I run, which is about to be done with pre-production.
(Books 6+): 10 covers, themes, and titles done, Kitchen selected to be first, release schedule announced, some prep started
Subscribers: free - 35, paid - 0
Other news this week: I recorded a reading of one of my older books for a podcast that I’ll announce here when it’s released, and I also had a TikTok video go mini-viral. At least, viral for me (currently over 30x more views than I normally get).
By the way, please like this post if you enjoyed it and would like to see more! This helps me decide what to do for future content.
