A summary for you on what to expect in this edition in case you want to scroll down to the interesting bits: progress on the rebrand; sharing a book from one of our own Substack friends; this week on TikTok; and the progress report with an update on my week-on-week sales and writing progress.
Rebranding Progress
As you may recall from last week, I’m currently using the time I would be working on Saturday posts to instead develop a rebrand of this space.
Wednesdays will likely look the same - I’ve decided to keep the Crowhill Cove theme, as this is the day we usually talk about the books. So, I’m redoing the imagery for the Saturday posts, thinking about a new name (I think I’ve chosen it), and ticking off all the other little boxes that need to be done. So, if you see a sudden name change around here, don’t worry - it’s still me, and I’ll make a post about the change when I’m ready to.
I have a bonus TikTok to share this week, above and beyond the ‘This Week on TikTok’ pick - and that’s because this one is about our own
!Troy very kindly sent me a copy of his book along with a signed bookplate - you can see my unboxing here:

I will, naturally, be reviewing the book in the coming weeks and I will absolutely share that soon. But even before I do that, it goes without saying that you should be buying Troy’s book!! Hop to it!
Side note: I never want people to stop sending me books, but I may have been sent a few too many books lately, and I have… well… nine books in my PR gift pile waiting to be read. So, I’m trying to get on that as soon as possible. I don’t know how many times I need to bring this up, but someone needs to pay me to spend all day reading soon, or this situation is going to get out of control! Well? Where’s my paycheque?!
(Just kidding, of course, but you can always support me by sending this post up in Substack’s algorithm and helping me attract new subscribers, who may eventually send me some money, and thus inadvertently pay me to take some time off and read. See how it works? Just start by leaving a comment and telling me what you’re reading at the moment:)
Books
Okay, you've read the Substack posts (and maybe you're a little bit confused if that's where you started). Wondering who all of these characters are? Thinking you need a refresher on past books?
Each week, I share the one TikTok video that performed best out of the last seven days.
All of these videos are available on TikTok for free, but if you’re a) not a TikTok user or b) just want the best highlights, this is a convenient place to see it.
This week’s best is below, and it’s my about the mystery of Thomas Pynchon:
Note: Changes are in bold, comments in italics.
